Roast Beef Au Jus, the French Dip served at St Clair Winery & Bistro in Las Cruces.

These are a few of my favorite things. ~ Richard Rodgers

You don’t have to be a “sandwich person” to enjoy a good French dip.

Take me, for instance. I’m not much for sandwiches BUT I’ve come to accept I do have a thing for French Dip.

So when I saw “Beef Au Jus” on the menu at the St Clair Winery & Bistro in the Las Cruces town of Mesilla, that was it ~ I was ready to order.

That’s the sandwich in the featured image above. And to answer your question, it did taste as good as it looks.

What’s in this French Dip?

Well-seasoned roast beef that starts out juicy. (Yes, it’s in there underneath all that gorgeous mess.)

With caramelized onions, mushrooms, and a luxurious amount of melted cheese in a fresh baguette.

Now imagine the flavor you get once you dip this already tasty beauty into a tub of beef broth. As we used to say in Brooklyn, Fuhgeddaboudit!

These simple ingredients combined with the cozy surroundings made for a classy mealtime experience.

That creamy white blanket of melted provolone draped on top made even the mushrooms look elegant. As well they should have since this occasion was an anniversary luncheon after all!

Celebrating another GOOD year!

The fries were good, too ~ but the star of this show is the sandwich.

St Clair’s Beef Au Jus could make a “sandwich person” out of you. And, hey, if not, you’ll still have treated yourself to one terrific sandwich.
