When you daydream about doing big things but live in a small city, you know how challenging it can be to keep your dreams alive and make them happen.
You start another day of work and sigh, “There’s no way I can travel in any meaningful way and keep a steady job, too.”
You watch a movie filmed in a faraway land where lush green fields go on forever and think… I’ll need a huge savings account before I can visit a place like that.
You love your family and friends like nobody’s business —but it’s still a little disappointing when seeing to their needs puts your plans for adventure on hold…again. So you tell yourself what you want most can wait. (Haven’t you said that before?)
You long to explore the land and cuisine of that portion of the world just outside your door, but life keeps getting in the way.
But no more.
ADVENTURE IS WAITING but YOU DON’T HAVE TO.
I believe you were created to explore the world, beginning with right where you are.
I believe God doesn’t put dreams in our hearts He doesn’t plan to satisfy.
I believe you don’t have to go far away to get away.
I believe the world is full of delicious and trying new foods is one of the best ways to explore it.
ENLARGE YOUR WORLD OF FOOD. DIVE DEEP. DISCOVER.
Consider me your foodie travel mentor.
Imagine you belong to a circle of creative and curious folk who dream of adventure and share your affection for most things edible.
Each of us has a story, here’s mine.
I was in grade school when I said to myself, “I’m gonna have adventures and explore the world!”
By the time I moved to Las Cruces, I had lived in six countries on three different continents and traveled to fifteen more, despite being on my own. I saw and tried new things in new places almost every day. I even learned to like foods that, at first, didn’t appeal to me at all.
But after a few years in my small southwestern city, I started to feel boxed in.
I began to fear I’d miss out on the adventurous life I had imagined as a child. “What,” I asked God, “was I doing here?” This desire to see the world that I had lived with as long as I could remember: “Was it wrong?”
Over time, He led me to throw myself into exploring the region and its dishes using the skills gained from my travels. I found the best restaurants, markets, and other local treasures.
And I broke out of that box.
Now I live as much an adventure here as I did ~ and still do, from time to time ~ in any of those faraway places.
I can help you live the adventure, too.
