Hard to believe that just this morning, I dined at Delicias Restaurant on Lohman Avenue in Las Cruces for the FIRST time since we moved here some years ago.
Can we agree it’s about time?
Especially since the servers went the extra mile in being welcoming and attentive. Plus, the food was fresh and the portions generous. Although not so generous that I couldn’t finish the cup of caldo de res that came with it!
Now, you should know that nothing on my enchilada plate tasted spicy ~ which might disappoint if you’re looking for a chile kick.
But this is Mexican food, not New Mexican. Which makes most of the dishes ideal for anyone who is a chile wimp (like my dining companion happened to be).
I, on the other hand, have to admit to missing the chile kick in my first bites of the meal. After several years in New Mexico, I suppose that, too, is about time and to be expected.
Still, Delicias Restaurant serves good Mexican food at a reasonable price. So I plan to return soon for the caldo tlalpeño ~ a soup with chicken, garbanzos, chipotle, cheese, and avocado.
Not every Mexican restaurant in Las Cruces offers it and I’ve never had it before.
Have you?
