Would you believe this Chala’s Brunch Burger plate is the first time I’ve eaten a burger with a fried egg on top?
The idea of eggs and burgers together didn’t appeal to me until recently . . . and no, I’m not sure what I was thinking back then.
Mea culpa.
But here is what I discovered at Chala’s Wood Fire Grill in the Las Cruces town of Mesilla a few weeks past.
I learned how both the flavors AND the textures in the juicy burger and the egg complement each other. A very good thing.
What else goes into a Chala’s Brunch Burger?
And do you see that gimongous slice of thick bacon in between the burger and egg, on top of the cheese?
Oh. my goodness.
What, I ask you, except for maybe ice cream, doesn’t bacon make better?
And crowning the whole thing with green chile jam ~ can I PLEASE take a jar of this stuff home? ~ made it G-R-E-A-T.
In short, this wood fire-grilled beauty was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a LOOONG time. With the flavorful fries, the Chala’s Brunch Burger is the perfect brunch or lunchtime meal.
Hubby L. dug into his plate of coffee-rubbed Steak & Eggs.

Hubby L. working on his steak & eggs at Chala’s Wood Fire Grill. Steadily. You’ll notice he had already eaten some of the “props” before I could take the shot.
And the man KNOWS his steak & eggs.
So when I ask for the Steak & Eggs instead of the Brunch Burger next time out, I expect to have another experience at Chala’s Wood Fire Grill worth writing about.
